
Don C. Iler is a graduate of the Cleveland-Marshall Law School, class of 1960 and was admitted to the Bar that same year.
Mr. Iler was President of the Ohio Association for Justice (formerly the Ohio Academy of Trial Lawyers) from 1983-84 and served as a Trustee. He served as Governor of the American Association for Justice (formerly Association of Trial Lawyers of America)
He has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America, 1987 and 1988-90 editions.
Don Iler received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Ohio Association for Justice at their annual convention May 14, 2009.
Mr. Iler’s trial experience includes wrongful death, medical malpractice, products liability, automobile accident, insurance bad faith, premises liability, aviation accidents and libel cases.
He has practiced extensively before the Ohio appellate courts and the
Supreme Court of Ohio, and has been admitted to practice before the Supreme
Court of the United States.
A frequent lecturer on a variety of topics including Ohio negligence and wrongful death law, Mr. Iler participated in the drafting and legislative efforts on behalf of Ohio’s comparative negligence and wrongful death statutes. He has also published numerous papers for the OAJ.
Mr. Iler was lead counsel in the successful constitutional challenge to
1996 tort reform law in the case before the Ohio Supreme Court, Ohio Academy of Trial Lawyers v. Sheward (1999), 86 Ohio St. 3d 451.
Mr. Iler is the author of manual Ohio Personal Injury Practice, published by Banks-Baldwin Law Publishing Co. in 1991 and 1996.
He and his wife have 5 children, and 8 grandchildren. Don Iler is a pilot.
